This guy might have had it going on regarding the planets, but as far as strength of material was concerned, he was way off! It looks like he was too busy thinking about sculpture.
I don't really understand what theory he's putting forward- that crumbly old walls and lovely new wood is the best combination for honey-pot suspension?
Is your issue that the wood should be bent? Couldn't a man of his intellect just have shoved a bit of wood into a wall to see if it worked?
